Anna Chapman - The Russian spy

MOSCOW: Seductive redhead spy Anna Chapman opened up to Russians in a primetime talk show on state television, describing herself as a "good shot" and even enjoying a reunion with her first love.

She revealed some secrets in her first TV interview: She has a passion for shooting and wants a lion cub as a pet - though she remained coy on the job that made her an international tabloid star.

Chapman was one of ten Russian sleeper agents exposed in the United States and deported this summer in the biggest spy swap since the Cold War. Russians have been waiting for her to finally speak publicly after months of teasing the media, including with a magazine photo spread and an enigmatic appearance at a Russian rocket launch in Kazakhstan where she brushed aside questions from a reporter.

The red-haired 28-year-old said on a talk show broadcast Thursday night on Channel One state television that she considers the failure of her mission a chance for new opportunities - though she declined to give details on what exactly her mission was.

Chapman stripped down to lingerie for a photo spread in the Russian edition of Maxim, appearing on the cover of the November issue under the caption "For Your Eyes Only" - the title of a 1981 James Bond movie.

Chapman said she still starts every morning with exercise: "I can't function normally if I don't do sports, it's very important for me."

Her relatives, friends and school teachers described Chapman as a very sharp and determined kid. One of her school friends recalled how she once vowed to marry a British man and move to the United Kingdom - a wish that eventually came true.

US: Thousand of birds fall from the sky, most dead

Around 11 p.m., thousands of red-winged blackbirds began falling from the sky over this small city about 35 miles northeast of Little Rock. They landed on roofs, roads, front lawns and backyards, turning the ground nearly black and terrifying anyone who happened to be outside.
The cause is still being determined, but preliminary lab results from the Arkansas Livestock and Poultry Commission revealed "acute physical trauma" in samples of the dead birds, primarily in the breast tissue, with blood clotting and bleeding in the body cavities. There were no indications of disease, although tests were still being done for the presence of toxic chemicals.
Karen Rowe, the bird conservation-program coordinator for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, said the prevailing theory was that the birds had been startled by New Year's Eve fireworks and dispersed suddenly, flying low enough to run into chimneys, houses and trees. Pyrotechnics are used to scatter blackbirds for farming purposes, although only during the day, given the birds' poor vision.
Red-winged blackbirds are among North America's most abundant birds, with between 100 million and 200 million nationwide, in all 50 states, according to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology in Ithaca, N.Y.
Beebe (pronounced BEE-be) is a congregating spot for blackbirds, and one witness told Rowe that he saw the birds roosting earlier in the day, and heard them again at night soon after the fireworks started.
"It was the right mix of things happening in a perfect time sequence," Rowe said.
The most recent count indicated up to 5,000 birds fell on the city. Sixty-five samples were sent to labs, one of which is at the Livestock and Poultry Commission and the other in Madison, Wis.
Bad weather was to blame for earlier bird kills in Arkansas.
In 2001, lightning killed dozens of mallards at Hot Springs, and a flock of dead pelicans was found in the woods about 10 years ago, Rowe said. Lab tests showed that they, too, had been hit by lighting.
In 1973, hail knocked birds from the sky at Stuttgart, on the day before hunting season. Some of the birds were caught in a violent storm's updrafts and became encased in ice before falling from the sky. Some were described as bowling balls with feathers.
Keith Stephens, a spokesman for the Livestock and Poultry Commission, said he was not aware of a case as large as the one in Beebe.
City officials contacted an environmental cleanup firm, which by Monday afternoon had picked up nearly all the blackbirds, some of which were bagged and left at the end of driveways by residents.
"It just looked as if it had rained birds," said City Councilmember Tracy Lightfoot, declining to speculate on the reason. "There's lots of theories running around. I have no idea. I just don't have a clue."
State scientists believe one thing to be almost certain: The bird deaths were not related to about 85,000 fish that died a few days earlier in the western part of the state, the biggest fish kill in Arkansas that anyone can remember. The fish were seen by anglers along the Arkansas River last week and reported to the Game and Fish Commission, which spent New Year's Eve measuring and counting dead fish that had spread out for nearly 20 miles.
The victims were almost all drum, and almost all younger ones. That suggests the culprit was disease, said Mark Oliver, chief of fisheries for the commission. He said fish kills were not uncommon, especially during winter when the fish are packed more closely. Still, he said he did not recall one of this size.
Meanwhile, about 500 dead birds were found Monday outside New Roads, La., northwest of Baton Rouge. Those birds were much more varied, with starlings and grackle in addition to blackbirds, and a few samples picked up by James LaCour, a wildlife veterinarian with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, did not show signs of trauma, he said.

Nintendo : Health risk for children with new player 3D

Nintendo Co has warned children six years old or younger should not play games in 3D mode on a new 3D-capable handheld game player slated for an early 2011 debut, citing possible health risks.
The Nintendo 3DS, which will be launched on February 26 in Japan and in other places later, is free from bulky glasses and aims to appeal to consumers after rivals stole head lines away from the Kyoto-based game maker during this winter holiday.
Microsoft Corp's Kinect and Sony Corp's Move controllers have improved upon the Nintendo Wii's motion-gaming technology. Apple Inc and Google Inc's Android have chipped away at Nintendo's handheld gaming market share.
Nintendo is due to hold a series of free trial campaign events for the Nintendo 3DS, starting on Jan. 8 in Japan.
Ahead of these events, the company said on its website that children six years old or younger will be able to experience the new handheld game device in 2D mode only because playing it in 3D mode could be bad for their eyes.

Sustaining romance in a morone world and relationship

Well it is difficult to keep this important romance for long in your and your love's life, you must seriously think of refreshing yourself with some tips given below.

1. 'Surprise' is the golden rule that you need to follow if you wish to sustain the romance in your relationship. Many a times, the relationship loses its charm just because things become so predictable and obvious. Keeping the element of surprise alive will help keep your relationship strong and going. And, you do not have to be a mystery woman/man for this. Keep throwing small surprises like wearing something unusual, or planning a surprise dinner and the like.

2. Take some time off and change your immediate environment. Pack your bags and book a room in some nearby hotel. You could also plan a short day trip to some nearby place. Being in the same home or same surroundings could also add to the boredom. Changing your immediate surroundings and giving yourself a much needed break could bring in a refreshing sigh of relief. Besides, it will give you two a chance to spend some quality time together.

3. Use touch therapy. Nothing can make up for the power of touch in a relationship. An unusual but pleasant touch could rekindle the flame of romance like nothing else. Give your partner a sensuous massage. You could use some essential aromatic oils for this purpose. For maximum effect, go in for aromatic oils such as lavender that have libidinous effect. Just stroke your fingers at the right places and you will be able to make the massage work for sure.

4. Work up your look. The pain to get dressed and look your best is something that lasts for only the first few years of the relationship. But, you need to avoid this if you wish to keep the romance quotient soaring. Dress well and look your best. There is no need for you to roam around the house in loosely fit t-shirts or ill fitted track pants. Wear body hugging track pants or shorts and look your best. You do not need to look like an immaculately dressed doll but a bit more prim and proper. Just a little effort and you will see your partner's interest increase.

Don't let the several years of being together steal the romance from your relationship. Try these tips and you are sure to sustain the love.

Healthy bones : Tomato juice for help

Milk’s not the only drink that builds healthy bones. According to new research published in the journal Osteoporosis International, drinking tomato juice reduces the risk of osteoporosis too. Is sipping tomato juice twice a day the key to healthy bones?

Drink Tomato Juice for Healthy Bones?

Tomatoes and tomato juice are a rich source of natural plant compounds called lycopenes. This member of the carotenoid family of phytonutrients has already been recognized for its health benefits. Lycopenes in tomatoes may lower the risk of heart disease, and some studies show they prevent prostate cancer - although recent studies have called this into question. Nevertheless, lycopenes are a good source of cell-protective antioxidants – and tomato juice is one of the best sources of lycopene around.

The Power of Lycopenes in Tomatoes

When researchers gave sixty post-menopausal women tomato juice, a lycopene supplement, a combination of the two, or a placebo for four months, they made some interesting observations. The women who received the lycopene supplement, the tomato juice, or a combination of the two had significant increases in the amount of lycopene in their blood. This isn’t surprising since the women were drinking tomato juice or taking a lycopene supplement.

What’s more interesting is the women who drank tomato juice or took the lycopene in supplement form had lower markers for bone breakdown in their blood as well as greater antioxidant capacity. These factors are both important for healthy bones and for reducing the risk of osteoporosis.

Prior to giving them lycopene supplements or tomato juice, the women were asked to avoid eating any tomato products for thirty days. During this time, they found a chemical in their blood stream that serves as a marker for bone breakdown – more evidence that lycopene is important for healthy bones.

Lycopenes in Tomatoes: How Much Do You Need for Healthy Bones?

According to this study, drinking two glasses of tomato juice a day can improve bone health and reduce the risk of osteoporosis. What about eating raw tomatoes? This wouldn’t necessarily have the same benefit. Lycopene are most readily absorbed when they’re processed, so tomato juice, tomato sauce and ketchup are better sources than raw tomatoes.

Drink Tomato Juice for Healthy Bones: The Bottom Line?

Don’t give up milk. It has the calcium the body needs to build stronger bones, but add more lycopenes to your diet by drinking tomato juice too. Give your bones the nutrients they need to keep you standing tall for a lifetime.

Brisk walking : Need of the hour

Taking brisk walks has health benefits similar to jogging, according to Ingo Froboese, a professor at the Health Centre of the German Sport University in Cologne.

This was the conclusion of a rough scientific study by the university, he said, noting that a walking speed of approximately 4.5 to 6 kilometres per hour was necessary.

“This type of exercise is particularly suitable for beginners since it’s not excessively demanding and puts optimal stress on the joints and bone structures,” Froboese remarked. He said that walking strengthened the cardiovascular system, increased lung capacity, lowered blood lipid levels and enhanced general well-being.

“Thirty minutes of brisk walking in the evening boosts fitness and keeps you healthy for a long time,” Froboese said. “People who accumulate metres and steps during the day are also doing a lot, though. Three walks lasting at least 10 minutes each and spread over the day improve heart and circulation, and guard against many diseases.”

The ideal amount of walking to protect your health is 10,000 steps daily, he said. A pedometer or step counter helps keep track of distances covered and is a good motivational aid as well.
But Froboese pointed out that more exertion was necessary to lose weight because “a half-hour walk burns about 200 kilocalories” — too few to shed pounds.

Tata's 'Nano' back with a bang

Tata Motor's Nano sales rebounded in December, after tata's offered better financing and extended warranties.

Sales has risen significantly to 5,784 from 509 in November, according statement from the Mumbai-based automaker. The December tally, a 60 percent increase from a year earlier, was below the 9,000 monthly sales record achieved in July.

Nano advertisements, added more sales points in smaller towns and introduced a 99 rupee ($2)-a- month maintenance option to help revive sales of the Nano, which costs as little as 137,555 rupees in New Delhi. Sales had fallen on a month-on-month basis since July because of price increases and safety concerns following at least three fires.

“Tata Motors is now focusing on the Nano because its reputation is riding on it,” said Umesh Karne, a Mumbai-based analyst with BRICS Securities Ltd., who has a ‘buy’ rating on the stock. “Measures such as easy financing and the maintenance offer have reassured customers.”

The automaker in December lengthened warranties to four years or 60,000 kilometers (37,282 miles) and added the maintenance plan. The company opened a factory in June with the capacity to build 250,000 Nanos a year.

Tata’s total vehicle sales, including trucks and buses, rose 31 percent from a year earlier in December to 67,441, according to the statement.
The company separately raised prices for some passenger- vehicle models and all commercial vehicles from Jan. 1 because of higher costs. Prices for Indica and Indigo cars rose by as much as 15,000 rupees, the automaker said in a separate statement. Commercial-vehicle prices went up by as much as 30,000 rupees. Nano prices didn’t change.

Tata in November said it would retrofit Nanos with additional protection in exhaust and electrical systems after the fires. Investigations concluded that the reasons for the fires were “specific” to the cars involved, the company has said.

Ratan Tata, the automaker’s chairman, decided to develop the car after seeing a family riding on a scooter.
The Nano is currently sold in 12 Indian states as the company works through initial orders and ramps up production. Tata expects to begin nationwide sales by March.
